The 1950’s were a decade of systems innovation. Sarnoff pioneered the world’s first color television standard — the fundamental technology and design of which remained in place for over 50 years. Also invented here was the magnetic tape used for recording monochrome and color video. Other advancements emerged during this time — from Electronic News Gathering (ENG) and the Typhoon super computer to high frequency transistors for consumer electronics and more.
