Sarnoff Corporation Hosts 33rd Annual Awards Ceremony for the Dixon Mentoring in Engineering Program (DMEP)

On Friday, June 6, 2008, Sarnoff Corporation hosted the 33rd annual awards dinner for the Dixon Mentoring in Engineering Program (DMEP) in the auditorium of its Princeton, NJ campus. This event honors the hard work and achievement of the program’s 34 students from the area high schools of Princeton, Lawrence, Trenton, and West Windsor North and South.

Founded as the Minority Engineering Program (MEP) in 1975, the DMEP provides students with an understanding and appreciation of mathematics and the sciences. The goal has been to motivate minorities to consider careers in the engineering industry. From November through June, students attend bi-weekly sessions on various aspects of engineering taught by volunteer Sarnoff staff.

Each year, one student is selected to receive a scholarship grant of $6000 towards their college education. The 2008 recipient, Kayla Aloyo of Lawrence Township was presented with this honor at the awards ceremony and begins an internship program at Sarnoff on June 18, 2008.
