Dr. Don Newsome, Rear Admiral, US Navy (Ret.) became Sarnoff Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer in May of 2007. He is an accomplished leader with over twenty years of experience in program management and business administration and possesses deep knowledge of the commercial and government markets.
Dr. Newsome joined Sarnoff after four years as Vice President and General Manager of EDO Reconnaissance and Surveillance Systems, where he was responsible for all profit and loss activities within the company. Under his direction, EDO grew substantially in profit, sales, and bookings.
Prior to EDO, Newsome served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Navy, managing a budget of several hundred million dollars and overseeing international programs for the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Throughout his distinguished military career, Newsome has received numerous decorations for service, including the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit (five awards), Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Dr. Newsome received a Doctorate of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Science Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics from Morehead State University. He is a member of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) and the Association of Naval Aviation (ANA).
