As a continuing source of form, fit, function, and interface (F3I) replacements, Sarnoff’s Generalized Emulation of Microcircuits (GEM) program provides a solution to the problem of microelectronics obsolescence. Using on-site design, test and foundry capabilities, Sarnoff’s GEM program is QML certified and manufactures military-quality replacements for non-procurable microcircuits — establishing support for production, redesign and sustainment requirements, for the life of the system.
Sarnoff’s GEM technology emulates microcircuits from a broad range of technology families — meeting the specifications of the original devices (physical, electrical, quality, environmental) without requiring changes to system documentation. Once a device has been emulated, a continuing source for the microcircuit is established and the obsolescence cycle is broken. Using GEM devices prevents production shutdown while maintaining system integrity and substantially reducing operation/sustainment costs while increasing semiconductor and microcircuit aftermarket potential.
