Power Survey Corporation

Power Survey Company (PSC) is an ideal example of Sarnoff’s multi-tiered business model in practice. It began as contract research with a major utility company – Sarnoff developed a propriety technology that uses sophisticated sensors to detect hazardous stray voltage. We advanced this technology into a cutting-edge system that can be mounted onto a moving vehicle, transforming the technology into a product that offers an efficient solution to a growing problem.

Through our continuing marketing efforts with other utility companies, we determined that the industry demanded not only the sensor, but rather a comprehensive service for detecting and mitigating the stray voltage risk. To address this need, Sarnoff launched PSC, a service business dedicated to the drive-by detection of stray voltage. PSC was sold to a group of private investors in the spring of 2007.

PSC’s transition from subsidiary to private company affirms Sarnoff’s ability to develop highly advanced technology solutions, shape concepts into working products, and eventually form companies that offer products and services based on customer needs.
